A driver guide from our team will meet you in the hotel lobby to give you an overview of the three-day gorilla trekking tour at Mgahinga National Park following a hearty breakfast at the Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda.
The first stop on the journey will be the Kigali Genocide Museum, where participants will pay their respects to those lost in the 1994 Tutsi massacre in Rwanda. After spending an hour and a half to two hours at the museum, guests will then have an idyllic two to three-hour drive to Mgahinga National Park in Uganda. While vacationing at the hotel, you can head out on a canoe trip, walk around the lake, or just unwind by the lake’s edge and get ready for the events of the following day.
Right after an early breakfast, the driver guide will take you to the Mgahinga National Park reception. At the reception, you will be given a Gorilla Trekking briefing on the appropriate ways to engage with gorillas.
Thereafter, Ranger guides will go with you on a trek into the forest to look for gorillas. After you locate the gorillas, you will have an hour to be with them. Therefore, you may shoot pictures and keep a close eye on them. Soon after the encounter, you are free to return to the resort. While there, you will either wind down or make use of its amenities.
Shortly after an unhurried breakfast, you will be driven back to Kigali. You will be treated to beautiful landscapes as you travel through the Ruhengeri area and the Kyanika border.
Depending on your departure flight, your driver guide will either drop you off at Kigali International Airport or a hotel when you get to the city. With that, the tour will be adjourned.
