Trip Overview
The famed splendour of the “Mountains of the Moon” is widely recognised internationally.
Their alluring and mysterious aura, which is nearly always shrouded in mist, has inspired countless fantastical stories about them throughout history. In addition to gorilla and chimpanzee trekking in Kibale and Mgahinga National Park, and a bonus of golden monkey trekking, the 12-day trip will include wildlife safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park. A tourist visa for East Africa obtained from the Uganda Immigration website is good for entry into both Rwanda and Uganda.

Above 3,000 meters, there are unique, beautiful plant and flower species, such as giant hepatica trees, whose trunks are covered in green moss with old man beards (Usnea lichen) dangling from the branches. This leads to Mutinda Camp, which is situated clos One can choose to climb to the top of 3975-meter Mutinda Lookout in the afternoon. It takes six to eight hours to travel 6.1 km to reach Mutinda camp where you will have meals and rest.
As you make your way to Bugata Camp at 4,062 meters on the fourth day of the climb, you pass through a valley filled with incredibly rare and gorgeous plant species, streams, and waterfalls.
With its steep hills, muddy and swampy portions, and high steps, the trek becomes increasingly difficult and demanding, but the rewards are breathtakingly gorgeous. You will be presented with beautiful photography moments.
You will wake early from Bugata Camp to navigate your way to the 4620-meter top of Weismanns Peak. Enjoy the sights of snow and the clouds beneath you.
Thereafter descend the Nyamwamba valley to Kiharo Camp, which is at 3,430 meters, for the night after starting a new path that completes a loop from the peak.
The hike to the summit is approximately 3.7 km, and it takes about 8 to 10 hours to descend the remaining 9 km to Kiharo Camp.
While descending downhill, you will traverse mossy rocks, meander through picturesque forests and rivers, then return to Kilembe’s base camp.
After 14.6 kilometres and about 7-9 hours of walking to the base camp the five-day Rwenzori Mountain Climbing Trip will come to a close with a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Breakfast in the dawn hours will be preceded by a game drive through the Kasenyi plains.

After receiving instruction on what to do plus what not to do when confronting gorillas, you will venture into the forest with a senior ranger guide to look for gorillas.

Engage with them to gain an understanding of the lifestyle they lead while coexisting with the mountain gorillas.
