Murchison Falls National Park

It is no brainer that when you hear the words “game safaris in Uganda, you straightaway think of Murchison falls National Park. This 3840-square kilometer Protected Area was named after Geologist Roderick Murchison (then President of the Royal Geological Society).  It is popular for its world-class game safaris. There are several game tracks in this Park  to enhance visitors experiences. These include the Victoria track, Buligi Track and Albert track among others. With the expertly trained Ranger guide in your safari vehicle, you will be able to visit some of the wildlife rich areas of this Park. The common wildlife species are African bush elephants, Cape buffaloes, spotted hyenas, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, Oribis, bushbucks, Olive baboons, vervet monkeys, Rothschild giraffes, warthogs and Hartebeests. Lions, leopards, serval cats, jackals and other nocturnal species are occasionally spotted during these game drives.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is another well-known destination for majestic wildlife game safaris in Uganda. It is easily accessible by air and road. The original Protected Area was known as “Kazinga National Park”. Its name was changed in 1954 after the visit of Queen Elizabeth. This Park is a wonderful destination for spotting tree-climbing lions. Other animals there are; elephants, Hippos, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, Oribis, Topis, Cape buffaloes, bushbucks and others. They can be encountered during game and boat safaris. It should be noted that the park is home to 95 mammal species and about 600 bird species. The top areas for game drives in this Park are Kasenyi area, the Northern Crater area and Ishasha sector.

While on game safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park, there are numerous budget, midrange and luxury accommodation facilities.  These include Kyambura Gorge Lodge, Elephant Plains Lodge, Buffalo Safari Lodge, Kasenyi Safari Camp, Mweya Safari Lodge, Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge, Enganzi Game Lodge and so much more.

Kidepo Valley National Park

If you wish to enjoy a real and authentic African wilderness Experience, then choose Kidepo valley National Park. This remote Protected Area is over 700 kilometers/7-9 hours’ drive from Kampala and if you can’t endure the long drive, you can opt for scheduled flight from Entebbe to Kidepo airstrip.

Be sure to see at least a quarter of the 75 mammal species and lots of birds. The top areas for game drives in Kidepo Valley National Park are Narus and Kidepo Valley marked by extensive grassland rolling plains.

Here, lions, leopards, Burchell’s zebras, Rothschild giraffes, impalas, ostriches, cheetahs, Reedbucks, Roan antelopes, Klipspringers, warthogs, Uganda Kobs and many others will be sighted.

Lake Mburo National Park Game safaris

This small (370 square kilometers) savanna-dominated National Park in Uganda is only 234 kilometers/3-4 hours’ drive from Kampala, hence making it the nearest game safari destination from the Capital.

With over 70 mammal species and about 350 bird species, game safaris in this Park are simply irresistible.

Game tracks in this Park are Kazuma track, Zebra track, eland track, the Kigambira Loop Track, Lakeside Track and Ruroko Track where giant elands,  Burchell’s zebras, warthogs, Impalas, Rothschild giraffes, Defassa waterbucks, Topis, bushbucks, vervet monkeys, giant elands, leopards, Cape buffaloes, Olive baboons, duikers, and Oribis are sighted.

When to Enjoy the Majestic Wildlife Game Safaris in Uganda

In these months (January, February, May, June, July, August, September and December), most watering points have dried hence animals converge at the few remaining watering points this incredible views during these game safaris.
