One of the greatest things in tourism is that conservation thrives best when the local communities are actively  involved. This is something that the Governor’s Camp collection has mastered so well.

Therefore, they established Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge. It is the first ever-community owned Safari Lodge in Rwanda. It was built and is still operated by Governor’s Camp Collection. However, the ownership of this luxurious lodge largely rests within the “Sabyinyo Community Livelihood Association” (SACOLA).  That being, community fees and a portion of rentals from the Lodge are directed into different conservation projects. The funds also support socio-economic initiatives for local communities living around Volcanoes National Park.
